Parking and permits

General information

Residents' parking permits are valid for 12 months. Permits are not renewed automatically. Each year, you will be required to provide updated vehicle details.

If you are a private resident and not a customer of Sanctuary Housing, you can still apply for a resident permit. The documents you provide, as outlined below, will provide your proof of address.

Company cars

If you have a company car and require a resident permit, a letter must be sent to us on company-headed paper which includes the following text:

This is to confirm that the 'applicant’s name' is an employee of the 'company name' and is supplied with the 'vehicle make/model/registration number' for their sole business and social use.

Cost

Resident permits are limited to one per household and are free of charge and valid for 12 months unless details below state otherwise.

London, Morningside Estate – additional permits for the household are charged at £100 per permit* valid for 12 months.

*Except where a valid disabled badge is held, and proof is provided. To be eligible for a free disability permit you will need to provide one of the following with the application email:

• a letter outlining PIP payments
• a letter from your Doctor/ GP/ hospital
• a letter confirming you are a blue badge holder

Permits will not be sent to you until any necessary payments are received. Please see ‘How to apply’ section for details on how to pay.

Before you apply

Before you apply for a resident parking permit, you will need the following:

• Vehicle details (including colour, make, registration)
• Insurance (copy of insurance confirmation/ certificate)
• V5C (to prove residency, vehicle address and vehicle details). If your vehicle is new and you are waiting for a V5C document, please send a copy of your new keeper slip instead.
• A letter confirming disability if an additional free permit is required
• Contact number

We will use the details you provide to check the vehicle MOT and Tax status. Please also view the Data Protection section.

How to apply

To apply for a resident parking permit, please email us at Permits@sanctuary-housing.co.uk with the details as outlined in the ‘Before you apply’ section.

Photos and scans of any documents are accepted as long as the information is clear.

If payment is needed, we will call you to make a payment over the phone.

A permit will not be issued until your vehicle checks have been completed and any necessary payments are made.

General information

Visitor parking permits are time-limited and are provided in booklets of 10. They work similar to a scratch card and are valid after the relevant section has been scratched off. Non-activated permits do not have a use-by date.

• London, Kingsmead – valid for 3 hours per permit
• London, Morningside – valid for 5 hours per permit

Visitor permits are available at a maximum of 12 booklets per year per household. It is recommended that you purchase in advance of any known visitors to allow for the creation and delivery of the permit.

We will endeavour to send your visitor permits within 7 working days of payment being received.

If you require more than 2 booklets within 1 month, please let us know the reason.

How to use

To activate a permit, you should write the car reg and scratch off the date, month and time of arrival.

Cost

Permits can be purchased at £3 per booklet. Maximum of 2 booklets per month per household. (Max £6 per month).

Permits will not be sent to you until any necessary payments are received. Please see the ‘How to apply’ section for details on how to pay.

Before you apply

Private residents will need to provide proof of residency such as a utility or council tax letter.

If you are a sanctuary customer, we can identify your proof of residency through the details you provide via email under the ‘how to apply’ section.

We are unable to provide visitor permits to persons who do not live on the estate. If you are a visitor to the estate, you should ensure that the person you are visiting has a permit for you.

Sanctuary Customer - please email us with your name, address, contact number and specify how many booklets you require.

Private resident - if you are a private homeowner please email us with your name, address, contact number, number of booklets and a copy of proof of address such as utility or council tax letter.

If a payment is needed we will call you to make a payment over the phone.

Permits will not be issued until your vehicle checks have been completed and necessary payments are made.
